On July 12nd 2019, Mrs. Deborah Paul – the Ambassdor of Canada to Vietnam and Mrs. Luong Minh Ngoc – Director of the Institue for Studies on Society, Economy and Environment (iSEE) signed on the Contribution Agreement for the project “Women of Ethnic Minorities Leadership Incubator” (WEMLI).
Accordingly, the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) will contribute CAD 35,000 to the Institue for Studies on Society, Economy and Environment to implement the project entitled “Women of Ethnic Minorities Leadership Incubator” (WEMLI).
The project will be implemented in Ha Noi and other provinces such as Ha Giang, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Dak Lak, Dak Nong.
The main activities of the project are:
– Capacity strengthened of 25 EM women in knowledge and practice of leadership, gender equality and community organizing through training and sharing sessions, study tours etc.
– Support to small projects initiated and implemented by EM women and their communities to address their local issues in gender equality, women empowerment and other social issues of their concerns.
– Change stories and lessons learned documented and shared at national and local levels.
It is expected that 25 people will directly participate in the project and more than 10,000 people in ethnic minority communities will be inspired and create positive changes in their places.
This project has a significant meaning which contribute to empower ethnic minority women in Vietnam to voice out and lead initiatives to create cultural, social and economic changes for their local communities.
